Recently I shared about 5 ways to make A LOT of money on YouTube in 2019, and today I’d like to share 7 simple steps you can follow on your own YouTube channel to gain your first 1,000 subscribers.
①Don’t post during prime time
Prime time is the hour where most other YouTube viewers are active. Most of big YouTubers post during prime time, so you as a small channel, might want to avoid to post your video during prime time because there’s big chance that they’re going to watch the big channels not the small channel. It’s important to know your own subscriber’s prime time and you have to find out. I can’t just say “○○am is the prime time!” because it is depends on what genre you are in and so on, but typically 7am to noon.
②It’s ok not to be original
Don’t try too hard to post only original contents because almost all the video ideas have been done before so it’s very hard to be completely original. Go to your competitor’s channel and see what’s been working for them. Use your creativity and add your own twist on the idea that they’re using. It’s ok to copy as long as you don’t fully and directly copy. This way, you’re making video that have proven to be appreciated and go viral in your genre.
③Look out for trending topics
Look out and pay attention to trending topics. Similar as ② and do the trending topics but don’t forget to add your own personality and your own originality, so that you know that you’re no longer making videos that you “think” will go viral and have higher chance to get 1,000 subscribers faster.
④Use positive clickbait
Everybody know that people hate bad / unacceptable clickbait. That means when the video thumbnail is not related to the actual video at all. When we search something on YouTube, we pick one video out of hundreds based on interested thumbnail and video title. So even if your video content is the best video ever, if your thumbnail sucks, people won’t pay attention.
⑤Use interesting and short video title
Don’t put bunch of random keywords on video titles like paragraph. But be sure to use high ranking keywords because those words get lots of views and searches with low competition and it’s important for SEO.
⑥Engage your viewers
As a small channel, it’s very important to get closer and engage conversation with your viewers. Don’t leave a single comment without you answering it. However, don’t just reply to a comment like “lol thanks”, “haha thanks” engage with them more. Mention their name, ask a question and try to continue the conversation.
⑦Equipment
Don’t let equipment hold you back from making videos, but but at the same time, if you can’t afford nice equipment or if you can’t spend time and learn how to film / edit videos / capture sound better, be creative. For example, even if you don’t have the nicest camera, you can always make your videos try to look fancy by decorating the space you’re filming – background, small decoration, lighting and so on.
